It’s that most wonderful time of year again. School! Atticus is starting kindergarten this year. Hailey will be in the eighth grade. Shanalee will be student teaching as well. Hopefully by this time next year she will be teaching her own class.
I have one class; the same as the last two semesters. It’s mainly for accountability and critiquing. The official title is “Revising the Novel”, but it will be structure the exact same as the previous two semesters. Read, write, critique. The only real difference will be in the lectures. The teacher, Jim Sallis, lectured a bit in the first semester. He prefers to teach based off of what the class (or assigned short stories) submits for critiques. In a way that makes sense. He can address directly to what we are either struggling with or doing good. Personally I feel it’s a win-win situation. The only down side is that not all of the stories submitted are that great. However, balanced with the some of the other fantastic stories, it’s manageable.
That’s all for now. I need to get to work. Tonight I will work on my novel. I promise. I’ll let you know how it’s coming along.
